Our Story
In the heart of Guatemala, a family owned coffee business was born from the love and tradition of sharing time around a cup of coffee. My inspiration for the company starts in memories of family gatherings, tertulias, where conversations flowed over the aroma of freshly brewed coffee. Growing up, I remember my aunt and grandma would brew the most exquisite Guatemalan coffee, drawing everyone closer together. They passed down their knowledge and love for coffee to me, shaping my passion and dreams for a better future.
Meet Our Founder
Melanie Macwan
During my travels to Guatemala, my cousin, who works on a coffee farm, shared his enthusiasm for coffee and showed me the meticulous process of growing coffee. With the desire to make a positive impact, we envisioned a future where we would not only help the coffee farmers but create ripples of change beyond the borders of Guatemala.
My objective is not only to advocate for the livelihoods of farmers who cultivate our food but also to facilitate the harmonious connection between the producers and those who sell it. After visiting numerous coffee farms of varying scales and operational capacities, where I observed the recurring disparities faced by women producers and farmers within the coffee industry, I decided to start a business that would not only excel in quality but also stand as a beacon of hope for progress and inclusivity.
As my team and I laid the foundation for our venture, the spirit of my family and the essence of those memorable tertulias fueled my determination. I knew that the road ahead would be challenging, but with the support of coffee producers, agricultural engineers, and family who have worked in the coffee industry, along with the guidance of my aunt and grandmother’s legacy, I embarked on a journey to support others with the same goal; to transform the coffee industry, one cup of coffee at a time.
