ABOUT
ANTIGUA GUATEMALA
The Falla family first started growing coffee in the Antigua valley in 1890. In the 1960s Arturo Fall Cofiño, the 3rd generation of the Falla family to live in Antigua, purchased a 100-hectare neighboring plot of land to the family’s original farm and got its name “El Tempixque” after the tempisque tree that stands proudly at the gates of the new property. The farm is evenly shaded by grevillea trees, and it’s borders are lined with macadamia trees.
This area hosts over 500 small producers dedicated to growing premium Genuino Antigua coffee on farms situated on volcanic soils that retain moisture despite lower rainfall levels. This coffee comes from the farm el Tempisque which has been a part of the Falla family for The region's ideal climate, characterized by partially sunny weather and moderate temperatures, provides a perfect environment for cultivating exquisite coffee beans.
Occasionally, the active Fuego volcano enriches the soil with mineral-rich ash, enhancing the unique terrain of Antigua, where dense shading safeguards the coffee plants from frost, ensuring the production of high-quality, smooth coffees suitable for blending or standalone consumption.
